Welcome
We are a group of Italian citizens concerned with the release of public data in open format, for easy reuse and remix (open data). We find it useful to feed the discussion on the choices we have to make as a country; by making high quality information easily accessible, it will help make the debate more rational, inclusive and grounded in data.
Some countries have already produced comprehensive official websites that act as one stop shops for public data. Unfortunately, at the time of going live with this site, Italy is not one of them. However, some national and regional government agencies have made early moves, releasing some databases on their own. Rather than sitting around witing for data.gov.it, we thought we could be more useful gathering in one place the links to the open dataset and the software instruments to process them we know of.
So we built Spaghetti Open Data. It is the result of the work of many citizens who submitted and reorganized links. The site itself is in an open format and designed to integrate with Italian CKAN. We built it entirely on voluntary work and paid for the hosting out of our own pocket. It has no other ambition than that of serving as a temporary entry point to Italian open data.
Consider it a gift. For all its shortcomings, our democracy is a great gift from the past generations: the least we can do is take care of it as best as we can.
